Hall of Fame: Denny Katz

INDUCTED JANUARY 22ND, 2022

Denny Katz - 2022 Hall of Fame Inductee

The CCD Hall of Fame is full of many longtime racers, employee’s and fans of our famed 1/8 mile, and Denny is much of the same type of breed. His father raced here back in the days of “East-Side” Pits, a period when even front engine sling shots of the time were brought in to the track via a station wagon single axel open wheel trailer. He came with his brother to watch his father during this time and gained his love for the sport and the track and was known by all to be the nicest guy around.

He won his first S/Pro Track Championship defining the odds in a sea of Dragsters in his SBC powered Hot Rod running on a 10’ tire in 1995. He was always competitive and usually fighting for a Track Championship from the beginning. After taking a brief hiatus from the sport, he came back with a vengeance in the 2000’s in a totally different combo. His 4 sec nitrous assisted Dragster had him back at his winning ways and again winning Track Championship’s  in ‘05, ‘16, ‘17 and ’18.

He’s had numerous top 10 finishes in his time at CCD, and continues to be a driving force today, competing out here still with his brother each week. In those roughly 30 years racing here he’s easily one of the most successful racers of his era, and still one of the damn nicest guys you’ll ever meet.
